GearSwitch Launches to Help Mass Customize the Automotive Aftermarket

April 12, 2018 Ryan Carag

GearSwitch was conceived with the notion that 21st century direct-digital-manufacturing technology and techniques can revolutionize how high-quality, thoughtfully-designed, and highly-customized products are brought to the automotive aftermarket.

The way we add features and incorporate our current technology into our cars, particularly older cars, is currently often completely generic at worst and not well-integrated at best. Custom solutions are generally built as one-offs at exorbitant expense. The falling cost and rising capabilities of modern computer aided design (CAD) software such as Autodesk Fusion 360, and computer numerical control (CNC) machinery such as 3D printers, milling machines, and laser cutters has progressed to the point that all of this can improve in a drastic and permanent way.

This is the mass-customization movement, and GearSwitch intends to be part of that movement. We hope you can be part of our journey.

Our first product is the E30 Ultimate Cup Holder for the iconic E30 BMW 3-Series, which goes on public pre-sale today. Proceeds from this pre-sale will fund future operations and equipment investments to develop a complete catalog of follow-on products and grow GearSwitch to be a contributor to the mass-customization movement. You can check out the product video below.

Thank you,
